MMA Risk Reduction Grant Awarded

The Blue Hill Select Board and Fire Department are pleased to announce that they have been awarded a Risk Reduction Grant from the Maine Municipal Association Property & Casualty Pool, totaling $1,664.05. These funds will be used to purchase and install video cameras on the rear of Engine 3 and Engine 4. These vehicles have large bodies that restrict rear visibility, and the cameras are expected to improve safety at fire scenes and during general operations. Fire Chief John Chapman identified the grant opportunity and prepared the grant application.

The Risk Reduction Grant program is designed to assist members of the Property & Casualty Pool (including the Town of Blue Hill) in mitigating hazards and supports the implementation of effective risk management strategies. The funding helps supplement local budgets to address hazardous conditions that could lead to potential property or liability losses.

Since its inception in 2021, the Maine Municipal Association has awarded over $1,200,000 in Risk Reduction Grants to members of its Property & Casualty Pool. This program exemplifies the power of partnership, as we work together to prevent property and casualty-related losses and create safer communities.
