Animal Control

Animal Control Officer

Our Animal Control Officer is responsible for animal welfare and animal control in the Town of Blue Hill. Among the duties associated with the office are:

  • Assisting citizens with lost, sick, found, or injured animals.
  • Enforcing ordinances relating to dog licensing, disruptive barking and other matters.
  • Issuing warnings and summonses in the event of neglect or cruelty to animals.

Dog Licensing

All dogs in Maine that are six months or older must be licensed annually in the town in which they reside. New and renewing Dog Licenses can be done in-person at the Blue Hill Town Office starting in December (on-line registrations available starting October). To avoid a required State late fee of $25, licenses must be obtained by Jan 31st.
