Effective 7/29/2026, the excise tax on camper trailers (including horse trailers with living quarters) will be calculated according to the length of trailer, not the MSRP. Therefore, in order to register or reregister your camper trailer, we will need you to know the trailer’s length, excluding the hitch, rounded down to the nearest foot. We only need you to supply this information once; our system should then keep it for future renewals. We understand that the added requirement might be frustrating, but in most cases, this change will reduce the amount of excise tax you pay. We will also no longer need new trailers to be registered between 9:00 AM and noon; you may do so any time we are open. Please contact the clerk’s office with any questions.
