Public Safety Building Committee

Committee Charge

To work with the Blue Hill Fire Company, Peninsula Ambulance Corps, and Blue Hill residents, together with an architect/engineer, to develop recommendations to the Select Board and Town of Blue Hill for building and property layout and design of new public safety building, including projected costs.

Composition

Nine members, including a committee-elected chair, vice chair and secretary. The Select Board constructed the committee to include:

  • three role-based positions (two for the Blue Hill Fire Company and one for the Peninsula Ambulance Corps);
  • four positions for members of the community with relevant expertise (after publicizing an opportunity for anyone interested in volunteering to identify their interest);
  • two positions for Select Board members.

Engagement

  • All Committee meetings are open to the public, at dates/times and locations to be posted on the town calendar, with an opportunity for public comment at each meeting
  • Meeting minutes will be posted on the town website once approved
  • It is anticipated that the Committee will solicit public feedback in form of surveys, public hearings, and/or listening sessions to inform process and outcomes

Goal/Deliverables

  • Recommendation for an architectural/engineering firm to advise the Town on building and site design
  • Recommendation for building contractors
  • Recommendation(s) for building and property layout and design of new public safety building to the Select Board and Town of Blue Hill with projected costs
  • Materials for public hearing and other presentations detailing recommendations and committee process
