Real Estate Property Tax Bills and Commitment Book
Real Estate Tax Commitment information is recorded each year. These documents contain lists of all properties, including (among other information) owner name, assessed value of land and buildings, and current taxes.
Personal Property Tax Bills and Commitment Book
The State of Maine also requires municipalities to collect personal property tax on the assessed value of certain personal property each year. These documents present the information for personal property taxes assessed.
Property Tax Deferrals/Abatements
Maine and the Town also offer several programs to assist individuals who may have difficulty paying their property taxes:
- Property Tax Fairness Credit (refundable state income tax credit)
- Maine State Property Tax Deferral Program
- Town Abatements. The Select Board may also defer or abate a property owner’s taxes for those in need of financial assistance. Applications for abatement/deferral are available at the Town Office.
Exemptions
While most real estate and business personal property is subject to property taxes, there are several exemptions (or reductions in taxable value) available to property owners. Here are links to forms for some of the most common exemptions. Applications for exemptions generally must be provided to the Town Office no later than April 1 of the year in which the exemption is initially sought.

- Exemption for veterans of the armed forces of the United States
- Exemption for legally blind persons
Tax Maps
This document contains images of the tax maps used to assess real estate taxes. Each map indicates the approximate location and shape of each lot within the geographic area represented by the map, together with other geographic features (such as certain roads).
