Town Permits

Mobile Vending Licenses are required from anyone looking to sell food, beverages, or merchandise from a portable unit on Town property or streets or sidewalks within Blue Hill. Licenses are not required to vend on private property. Licenses are reviewed and granted by the Select Board, who typically meet once per week; Licenses lasting longer than three days require public hearings, requiring an extra week and advertising costs in addition to the administrative fee. Governed by the Mobile Vending Ordinance.

Special Amusement Permits are required for any on-premises Liquor Licensee who wishes to also host live entertainment. This application should be filed with the Town Clerk simultaneously with the Liquor License application, and this Permit expires simultaneously with that License, even if its application was submitted later. Permits are reviewed and granted by the Select Board, who typically meet once per week, and require public hearings, requiring an extra week and advertising costs in addition to the $10 administrative fee. Governed by the Special Amusement Ordinance.

This certificate is required to be filed by (1) any sole proprietor planning on operating a mercantile enterprise in Blue Hill under an assumed name (any name other than your full legal name), or (2) any partners planning on operating a mercantile enterprise in Blue Hill, unless that enterprise is already registered with the Secretary of State’s office as a corporation, limited partnership, or limited liability company.

The filing fee is $10, plus $5 for every day you file after opening for business. If you close your business or relocate to another municipality, you must return to sign the withdrawal certificate and pay another $10. If an individual withdraws from a partnership, they must also return to sign the certificate, but there is no additional fee.

The certificate is open to public inspection, and any misstatement on the certificate is considered perjury.
