Dog Licensing

All dogs in Maine that are six months or older must be licensed annually in the town in which they reside. New and renewing Dog Licenses can be done in-person at the Blue Hill Town Office starting in December (on-line registrations available starting October). To avoid a required State late fee of $25, licenses must be obtained by Jan 31st.

A PDF of your dog’s rabies certificate. This is required to be uploaded.

  • Your dog’s microchip number and microchip issuer (Home Again, 24 Petwatch, Avid, etc) for free Maine microchip registration with dog licensing.

Fees

Spayed or Neutered: $6.00 per year
Unaltered: $11.00 per year

(*on-line and/or credit or debit card fees may apply)

Late Fee: $25.00 per dog (effective Feb. 1st)

Animal Control Officer

Our Animal Control Officer is responsible for animal welfare and animal control in the Town of Blue Hill. Among the duties associated with the office are:

  • Assisting citizens with lost, sick, found, or injured animals.
  • Enforcing ordinances relating to dog licensing, disruptive barking and other matters.
  • Issuing warnings and summonses in the event of neglect or cruelty to animals.
